Sessions Formats 2021

Since we are holding a virtual conference in 2021, we will be able to be creative with session types, lengths and tools we use.
While we will be offering most sessions over Zoom, we encourage to consider submitting sessions in other platforms such as Twitch,  YouTube Live channel, Voxer, Discord, Fligrid, QiQoChat, WeChat, Facebook Live, twitter and Instagram. We can also do sessions and tours in or livestreamed from virtual worlds, games and other platforms. Feel free to propose others.

Here are the types and lengths of sessions listed on the CFP.

Hands-on sessions

Hands-on sessions focus on a particular tool or platform and using that tool (playing along) as the focus of the session.
This can be Google documents, annotation on hypothes.is, any platform where people can work along, build (virtual worlds) or play (games).
Time Duration available:
50 minute hands-on sessions
75 minute hands-on sessions

Livestream sessions

Livestream platforms include Zoom,  YouTube Live channel, Facebook Live, Twitch, Periscope on twitter among others.
These platforms allow you to livestream anything happening on screen and also in real life. Session that could be livestreamed could be from a F2F classroom, a mobile phone walking tour, gameplay or a tour of a virtual world or anything else on the Internet.
Time Duration available:
50 minute livestream
110 minute livestream

Posters

For 2021, This conference will be holding a virtual poster session on Padlet. https://padlet.com/
Padlets are digital walls which allow the creator to write in text boxes, upload images, videos and files or link to these on the Internet.  We will have a specific time during the virtual conference where poster exhibitors will have 5 minutes to give a brief talk on their posters. The posters will be available through out the conference for anyone to be able to view.

Presentations/Discussions/Panels

These include concurrent sessions you see at most conferences. You can submit a discussion, presentation or panel. Please indicate in your submission if you want to use a platform other than Zoom.
Time Duration available:
15 minute lightning rounds
50 minute concurrent sessions (discussion, presentation or panel)

Social Media Sessions/Events

These are sessions that can be on any topic but utilize a social media platform for a specific time period
Flipgrid event
Tweetchat over twitter
Instagram Takeover
Voxer Chat
reddit AMA (ask me anything)
TikTok event
Time Duration available:
50 minute session event
Half or Full Day Instagram Takeover
Half or Full Day reddit ask me anything
Half or Full Day Asynchronous Voxer Session

Webcam Livestream

Half or Full Day Webcam livestream
For these sessions, we would like to set up a webcam and livestream from classrooms, areas on campus, studios, puppy cams or even a traveling GoPro cam. Longer livestreams could be pattern after Norway's Slow TV.
The livestream does not need to be facilitated.

For More Information

If you have any questions or would like to submit something not covered in the CFP, please contact Kae Novak [email protected]

Also if this would help - here's a video that talks a little bit more about the sessions.
