More Than Meets the Eye: Transform[ative] Approaches to Distance Learning

Adults are increasingly turning to distance learning to further their education. In order to meet these diverse needs, higher education must adopt innovative and transformative approaches to the delivery of distance education and the support provided to learners. These approaches are driven by an increased learner autonomy and support from both course facilitators and institutions. Course facilitators can foster learner autonomy by implementing heutagogical principles and institutions can support learner autonomy through adapting alternative pathways to higher education credentialing.
