Biography
Cynthia Calongne (Lyr Lobo) is a Professor at Parker University in Dallas, Texas where she is the extended reality (XR) faculty champion, and an instructor at CCCOnline and CTU Doctoral Studies. She is a pioneer for learning in virtual worlds and investigated alternative designs for virtual reality (VR) interfaces in 1995-97. She taught 55 university classes in Second Life (SL) and OpenSimulator and mentored 800+ 8th grade students during their virtual world classes.
In 2010, her team won the $25,000 grand prize for the Mars Expedition, and in 2017, she received the Thinkerer Award at VWBPE for service to virtual world education.
Calongne conducts research at Virtual Harmony (VH), a community devoted to learning, leadership, and character strengths through VR, 3D games, and simulations. Her recent work focuses on testing their VH Oculus Quest 2 app and studying multiplayer VR design strategies.
